Do you want to address racism, but you don’t know where to begin?

Racial Healing is an eight-week program that guides participants in learning the truth about the history of racism in the United States, so that we might work toward healing and restoration. The curriculum for this program was developed by JustFaith Ministries and has been utilized by faith communities and nonprofit organizations for several years.

Intergenerational groups of 8-12 people meet online through Zoom and engage the history of racism in our country prayerfully and through dialogue, active listening, and relationship building.  The process involves reading, watching videos, reflection, questioning,
and exploring.

There are 8 sessions that explore the history of racism from slavery, through convict leasing, Jim Crow, the civil rights struggle, and contemporary challenges.  These 8 sessions are complemented by an individually chosen experiential learning opportunity.  The lens throughout is a faith perspective.  It is nonjudgmental, truthful, and fosters growth.  Its ultimate concern is the Beloved Community articulated by Martin Luther King, Jr., but foundational to every faith tradition.

Racial Healing Goals:

  • Learn about the history of racial injustice in the United States, so that we might better understand and more effectively address modern-day racial injustice

  • Learn how faith communities responded to racial injustice in the past, so that we might learn from their mistakes and successes

  • Learn from the spiritual wisdom of those who endured injustice and stood for freedom

  • Develop practical tools for seeking racial justice in our local communities
